The Championship side Fulham were outstanding in the first half – but then 11mins into the 2nd half the referee awarded a dubious penalty – and booked Bonnissel, Fulham were furious as replays showed little contact on Morientes – who converted the resulting penalty,
Liverpool then had a spell on domination as they piled pressure onto Fulham,
Then Cisse netted 9th of the season with a wonderful strike from 25 yards,
The referee was certain about yet another penalty after 72mins – Fulham had no complaints this time and Morientes coolly finished it off to grab his 2nd,
Fulham pulled 1 back 12mins from time with Boa-Morte slotting home from a scrambled corner, which Liverpool failed to clear,
But Liverpool won the match 3-1.
League One side Crewe almost
caused an upset – they took an amazing 1-0 lead after 13mins, but they were
quickly brought back down to earth 1 minute later when Ruud Van Nistelrooy
scored the equalizer,
Then Man Utd were awarded a
penalty on 43mins – and Rooney slotted it home to put United in front,
The second half was full of action
as United sat back and Crewe looked more likely to score,
And then on 78mins another penalty
was awarded – but this time it was Crewe’s & Paul Scholes was booked,
Roy Carroll was the hero as he
saved the resulting penalty – breaking Crewe’s hearts,
And United went on to scrape
through 2-1.
One to forget for Wolves fans, after all the build-up Wolves found
themselves 1-0 down inside 2 minutes, Todorov getting Portsmouth an early
start,
And from then on it was all Portsmouth – and after 23mins they scored
again – Berger scoring on his return from a long injury,
Wolves got their act together just before half-time – and earned a
penalty, Kenny Miller stepped up and blazed it high and wide – wasting the
chance for Wolves to get back into the game,
Portsmouth finished in style by adding a 3rd deep in injury
time as Todorov scored his 2nd of the game – wrapping up a
comfortable 3-0 win.
Ashley Cole was the hero of the day – scoring twice
to book a place in the semi-finals for Arsenal,
The Gunners dominated the game and scored their first
after 18mins, Villa looked out of place sometimes and never really threatened
Arsenal,
The game was finally sealed after 76mins when Cole
netted his 2nd of the game – scoring a header from a deep corner –
giving Arsenal a 2-0 win.
